Educational Philosophy:
Educating children is about laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning. This requires an immense respect for each child as an individual and learner. It also requires differentiated instruction, which respects the learning style of each child. We believe that a child who feels respected will not only learn but also carry these learning skills into adulthood.
At Robert M. Hughes Academy Charter Public School the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks serves as a guide to instruction. The school’s educational approach focuses on a “back to basics” teaching philosophy developed by renowned New York educator Dr. Lorraine Monroe. RMHACPS teachers have implemented Dr. Monroe’s effective skills oriented teaching model, entitle the BBC (Black Board Configuration) to plan and deliver quality instruction to students daily. The educational program establishes a serious academic tone in all classrooms from K to 8; works to increase standardized test scores across the board and focuses on improving the quality of classroom instruction, the instruction of new educational concepts and reinforcements and mastery of previously taught material. The school prides itself on its college preparatory curriculum and commitment to an intensive and challenging educational program.
